1975 to 2020

Peter Michael Fucito was born February 26, 1975 in Naples, Italy, grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, and graduated from Rogers High School in 1993. In 1998, he left friends and family to venture west to Durango where he soon met his sweetheart, Jessica. They married in 2007 and remained in Durango. In 2009, they were blessed with their dear son, Gavin. Pete was grateful to call Durango home and passionate about embracing the great outdoors it offered.

Pete passed away peacefully in his home on December 12, 2020 after a four and a half year battle with cancer. He was 45 years old. During his fight, he took all that life threw at him in stride keeping his wit and positive attitude throughout. He had a smile that would light up a room and made an impression on everyone he met. He loved deeply and accepted all just as they were. He was a loving husband and father, a beloved son, brother and uncle, and a loyal friend. He had a zest for life and nature and was always ready for his next outdoor trip.

Being an accomplished snowboarder, raft captain and Eagle Scout led him on many memorable adventures. He was confident in his values, steadfast in his decisions, and determined in his efforts. His last words were, "I'm gonna go make some turns now." Off he went, in a beautiful snowstorm to play in "the big fluffy white stuff" falling from the sky.

He leaves us physically but will always accompany us on our adventures to come.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife and son, Jessica Heisel (Davis) Fucito and Gavin Charles Fucito, parents Peter Fucito and Raye Lillian Hansen Fucito, sisters Jennifer Lynn Fucito Ratliff and Jamie Charlene Fucito Goeden, their children, extended family, and more friends than can be counted.
